I had rejected the option to go to Venice again having seen it a few times before. So Caorle was the next option as my fab family had a sailing event on over the weekend. Its not the first place I would choose for a holiday (a little too touristy) but was just perfect for a relaxing weekend.
Which apparently I was well due for since I found myself in the first aid station getting a bandaged foot for inflamed tendons or muscles or whatnot on Saturday morning. It ruined my swimming plans slightly, but having looked at the town the night before I spent my days lounging under an umbrella reading to my hearts content, limping along the gorgeous seaside wall in the evenings down to the church to watch the sunset, back up to get some gelato )best place just off the quay walk after some blue benches and only opened in the evenings – the long queue is testament to the amazing gelato of cap nord/something nord) and stopping off in a bar for an aperitivo (try the one where the quay from the church meets the further east beach for a nice view).
Friday night concluded in a spectacular red moon I could have watched for hours but couldnt seem to get an amazing photo o, while on Saturday night I stuffed my face with bruscetta.
On Sunday I perched myself on some rocks right by the sea to catch the maximum breeze in the afternoon (I would have melted in the sunshine before 3 it was unbearably hot) and watched boats sail by. Wallowing awau was the perfect way to spend the day sitting on rocks carved with designs ad poetry, perhaps less like a mermaid and more like a seal after all my ice-creams….but hey, when in Rome!
Incidentally most weekend I wore my lovely new skirt from tezenis which convieniently hid my bandaged foot, and my hair was what it always was – an absolute mess! The only thing I can do with it in summer is slick it all back, otherwise I end up with a birds nest. Which would still be tidier than my hair…..
Refreshed and recooperated despite the hair nest and injured foot I headed back to camp for Monday ready for an even hotter week ahead. Which concluded with the most spectacular spettacolo about goblins, captain flint, adventure, mines, golden coca colas, caramel cities and poisonous chocolate tvs!
